Tour de Liverance
Gilmer County is known as the "Mountain Bike Capitol of Georgia", and we contend that its gravel and back roads are just as epic and rewarding an experience as the singletrack.
Come see for yourself on April 13, 2019 at the Tour de Liverance! With 3 looped routes measuring 45, 68, and 105 miles, there is an option for just about everyone.
The century route will take you from the shadow of the Cohutta Wilderness to the summit of Burnt Mountain where, on a clear day, you can see Atlanta.
All three routes will lead you below Talona Mountain to Whitestone, past active and closed mines, up the iconic gravel climb on Raven Cliff Rd, past the scenic Chateau Meichtry vineyard and through some of the most memorable and "beautiful rural vistas of the county including the areas surrounding Clear Creek, Owltown Creek and Turniptown Creek.
This will be a supported ride with multiple SAG stops shared by all three routes. It should be noted however as an added challenge that the century route will be treated as a 'minimally supported' event, with no guarantee that the SAGs will be available later into the day.
The midway SAG however (at around mile 56) will remain open for the duration as an unstaffed water resupply for the century riders.
All proceeds for this event will go to help our local NICA youth mountain bike team.
