Patricia Holden Kovsky-Dotson: The Holdens of Gilmer County – from Fighting alongside the Indians to Present Day Descendants
At the May meeting of the Gilmer County Genealogical Society, Inc.on Thursday, May 9, 2019, writer and family historian Patricia Holden Kovsky-Dotson will recount stories of her great-great-great grandfather Holden who migrated into Cherokee territory and lived and fought alongside the Indians before the Cherokee removal. She will also share information about what life was like during that time in Gilmer County and the dialect of our first settlers. The Holden family is listed on the 1834 and 1840 Gilmer County Census. Mrs. Kovsky-Holden is published regularly in the magazine “The Best of the North Georgia Mountains.” This meeting will be held at the Gilmer County Library at 2:00 p.m., with refreshments served at 1:30 p.m.
