GCGSI October Meeting: Life is Funny

The Gilmer County Genealogical Society will hold its October monthly meeting on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the lower level meeting room of the Gilmer County Library. Local author Kathi Harper Hill will be the speaker with a presentation titled Life is Funny.
Ms. Hill, a member of First Families of Gilmer County, will share her ancestry which goes back to several families who were early settlers of the area. She will also discuss her previous career in the mental health field, and how her second career as an author began when she was 55 years old. Nine books later, she will describe her genres, explain her writing process, and discuss the influence of her mountain heritage as she summarizes each book. And she will introduce you to her latest book, Life is Funny, a sequel to Bensy and Me, her popular novel that was published in 2016.
Kathi Harper Hill has lived in the North Georgia Mountains all her life. She has been writing since the age of ten. Besides loving to write (and read), her other interests include teaching Bible classes, interior design, and music. Kathi has been a soloist since the age of fourteen. She and her husband David, who illustrates her books, live in a Victorian cottage with their daughter Anna Kate, and their current menagerie of pets: The Great White Cat, Eli; Anna Kate’s cat, Mimi; an American Bulldog, Bonnie; and one lone fish who goes by the name of Fin.
The meeting takes place in the lower level meeting room of the Gilmer County Library and begins at 2:00 p.m., but come a little early early for refreshments and conversation. With the reemergence of Covid in Gilmer County, masks are recommended but not required.
